Mobile or Salon: Two Ways to Work With Extensions

Two ways to work, compared

Once you can fit extensions, you will need to decide where to work. Both routes are common.

Working in a salon

  • A ready-made space, with clean sinks, chairs and lighting
  • A shared client base, though often a rent or commission to pay
  • Less to carry, and less setup time

Working on a mobile basis

  • Freedom over your hours and where you work
  • You bring your own light, chair and kit
  • More travel, and more planning around parking and timing

Questions to settle either way

  • What insurance and records do you need?
  • How will clients book, and how will you confirm appointments?
  • How long does one appointment really take?

Take advice from an accountant before committing, and ask us what the course covers. If you are looking at the Essex course, ask whether business basics are covered.
